Mr. Hananna Ould Sidi, the Minister of Defense, Retirees, and Children of Martyrs, participated in the 61st session of the Munich Security Conference, held in Munich, Federal Republic of Germany, from 14 to 16 February.
The conference brought together heads of state and government, foreign ministers, and defense and security officials from over 120 countries.
The Minister participated in discussions and deliberations on the most important dimensions of the global security equation, namely the interconnection between the growing effects of climate change and peace and security issues.
The Minister’s intervention focused on the need to address the effects of climate change by building environmentally friendly development pathways and helping the least developed countries, particularly in Africa, to strengthen their resilience and adaptive capacities in the face of climate change and to build sustainable security and stability.
