The commissioner of Human Rights, Humanitarian Action and relations with the civil society, Mr. Hacenna Ould Boukhriss , presided on Sunday, in Nema, the ceremony of the opening of a training workshop on the content of the 031- 2015 law, which criminalizes slavery.
During this workshop, which was organized by the NGO « Torch of freedom» in collaboration with the The commission of Human Rights and Humanitarian Action and relations with the civil society, the particiapnts followed a series of presentaions on the law criminalizing slavery, the efforts of the fight against the consequences of salvery, and the UN programs adopted by the country in this regard.
In a speech on this occasion, The commissioner of Human Rights indicated that this meeting highlights the important role that can be played by the civil society in awarness raising of the citizens about their duties and rights.
He added that the government created special courts as part of the fight against slavery, covered the justice fees ,and adopted judiciary assistance law for the victims. He confirmed that country will not permit to any person to exploit the consequences of slavery for other interests, out of the context of Human Rights and the law.
On his part, the president of the NGO « Torch of freedom» Maaloum Ould Mahmoud, praised the partnership of his organization with The commissioner of Human Rights, Humanitarian Action and relations with the civil society, saying that this collaboration would contribute to the resolution of many issues, related to the fight against slavery.
The commissioner of Human Rights was accompanied by the deputy governor of Hodh Chargui , the interim wali, the president of the National Commission of Human Rights, the president of the regional council of Hodh Chargui, and the representative of the UN Office of Human Rights High Commission.
