Mauritania – Algeria: Signing of the Agreement on the Executive Program for Joint Cooperation in the Field of Higher Education and Scientific Research

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Yacoub Ould Moine, signed, on Monday in Algiers, with his Algerian counterpart, Mr. Kamel Badari, the agreement of the executive program for joint cooperation (2025-2027) in the field of higher education and scientific research.
The program includes items related to the university mobility of students and researchers, training at the master’s and doctoral levels and medical specialties. It also includes access by researchers in both countries to digital information and centers for manuscripts and historical documents.
In a speech on the occasion, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research explained that his visit to Algeria comes within the framework of strengthening and developing the bonds of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of higher education and scientific research, which enjoys common interest from both parties, because of its pivotal role in achieving the aspirations of the leaders of the two countries, His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani and His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Minister recalled the role played by higher education and scientific research as a key lever for national development, and Mauritania’s keenness to ensure that the educational system fulfills the hopes pinned on it.
He pointed out that his sector has adopted a comprehensive reform approach to develop, raise the level and improve the quality of higher education and scientific research, noting the excellent level of cultural exchange between Mauritania and Algeria, and the appreciated contributions made by Algeria that have enabled over decades to train thousands of senior Mauritanian cadres, including doctors, engineers, university professors and administrative staff in various fields, embodying the long-standing brotherly ties between the two countries and the aspirations of the brotherly peoples of Mauritania and Algeria.
For his part, the Algerian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research stressed in his speech that this agreement will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of higher education and scientific research, which will reflect positively on strengthening scientific relations between Mauritania and Algeria.
He recalled the historical relations deep in civilization, history and geography between the two brotherly peoples, which were strengthened under the leaders of the two countries.
The agreement was signed in the presence of His Excellency the Mauritanian Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi, Mr. Mohamed Lemine Ould Ahmed Zeidane, in charge of a mission at the Ministry, Mr. Sadvi Ould Sakhaoui, Director of Guidance and Scholarships, and Ms. Meriem Bebaker, Cultural Counselor at our Embassy in Algeria.
