Mauritania Officially hands over Instruments of ratification of Protocols Amending Chicago Convention to Secretary-General of (ICAO)

Yesterday, Mauritania officially handed over two instruments of ratification of the Protocols amending the Chicago Convention to the Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada.

These are the instrument of ratification of the Protocol amending Article 50 (a), which provides for an increase in the membership of member states of the ICAO Council from 36 to 40, and the instrument of ratification of the Protocol amending Article 56, which allows the number of member states of the Air Navigation Committee to be increased from 19 to 21.

This brings the number of countries that have deposited the ratification of these protocols to 108, knowing that the entry into force of these protocols requires the ratification of 128 countries.

These documents were handed over on behalf of  Minister of Equipment and Transport, Mr. Ely Ould Veirik, Mauritania’s Permanent Representative to the ICAO Council, Mr. Kan Ibrahima, in the presence of Mr. Mohamed Lehdhana, Technical Advisor in charge of Air Transport at the Ministry of Equipment and Transport, and the Director General of the National Civil Aviation Agency “ANAC”, Mr. Ngueida Abdallahi Abbas.
