Minister of Digital Transformation heads to Paris to participate in the International Summit on Artificial Intelligence

The Minister of Digital Transformation and Modernization of Administration, Ahmed Salem Beda Atvagha, left the capital, Nouakchott, on Sunday evening for Paris to represent H.E. President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, at the International Summit on Artificial Intelligence held in Paris on February 10 and 11, 2025, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

The summit aims to emphasize the international community’s determination to put AI at the service of the common good in an inclusive, open and positive manner.

It also seeks to mobilize and coordinate existing initiatives, forums and partnerships related to AI in light of UN initiatives, especially the General Assembly resolution entitled “Seizing the opportunities offered by safe, secure and trustworthy AI systems for sustainable development”.

It also aims to plan for a UN Global Digital Charter in light of the G20 AI Principles and the OECD Council Recommendation on which they are based, and the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.

The summit will be attended by heads of state, economic actors, civil society, the cultural community, scientific research and international organizations, continuing the efforts made during the international AI summits and meetings held in 2023 and 2024.

The Minister was accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Ould Abderrahmane, in charge of the mission.
