Senegalese Prime Minister Decorates UNPM President

On 13 January, in Nouakchott, Mr. Ousmane Sonko, the Prime Minister of Senegal, on behalf of Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the President of the Republic of Senegal, decorated Mr. Mohamed Zeine El Abidine Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the President of the National Union of Mauritanian Employers (UNPM), with the title of Commander of the Order of Merit in recognition of his considerable efforts in promoting partnership between the private sectors of the two countries.

A round table entitled: ‘Strengthening the strategic partnership for sustainable economic integration’ will be held tomorrow, 14 January, at the former Palais des Congrès in Nouakchott. It will bring together the public and private sectors of the two countries.

Mauritania and Senegal maintain cooperation and partnership relations, including the Tortue-Ahmyim GTA gas field project, the Rosso bridge project linking the two countries, agreements on the creation of a Senegalese-Mauritanian secretariat for cooperation and development, and other issues relating to the fight against irregular migration and agreements on residence and stability conditions.
