President of Republic Receives EU Special Representative for Sahel

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received, Thursday evening at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, Mr. Angel Losada, Special Representative of the European Union for the Sahel.

The meeting discussed the cooperation relations existing between our country and the European Union and ways to develop them, in addition to issues of common interest.

Shortly after the meeting, the European special representative for the Sahel made a statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI), in which he said he had the honor of meeting His Excellency the President of the Republic’, today in Mauritania, which he has visited more than once.

“I thank His Excellency the President of the Republic for this meeting during which I reviewed with His Excellency the general situation in the region and benefited from his experience”, as he put it.

“We also discussed the excellent relations between the European Union and Mauritania, which we are working to promote, inspired by the experience and leadership of His Excellency the President of the Republic”, as he concluded.

The meeting was attended by:

– Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad;

– Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed Lamine, Director of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic;

– Harouna Traore, Advisor at the Presidency of the Republic;

– Giacomo Durazzo, Ambassador, Delegate of the European Union to Mauritania.
