Mauritania, Senegal Continue To Monitor Gas Project

The Minister of Oil, Mines, and Energy, Mr. Abdesselam Ould Mohamed Saleh returned to Nouakchott on Wednesday afternoon, after a visit to Senegal with a delegation of his department, to learn more on the progress of the construction works of the maritime infrastructure component of the gas project in Senegal.

The visit follows the last meetings organized in Nouakchott and to which Senegal and BP and Kinross companies were invited.

The work in question has made available hundreds of employment opportunities and built the capacities of the national private sector.

This trip enabled the Mauritanian delegation to meet with BP officials.

Given the fraternal relations existing between their Excellencies Messrs Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Republic, and Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal and between the two countries, the Ahmeyim project is an example of the excellence of bilateral cooperation based on understanding and good neighborliness between Mauritania and Senegal.

Production in this gas project is scheduled for 2023.
