Human Rights Commissioner Receives American Human Rights Mission

The Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Action, and Relations with Civil Society, Mr. Mohamed El Hacen Ould Boukhreiss, received, Tuesday in Nouakchott, an American human rights mission, led by Mr. Sean Tenner, coordinator of the Chicago-based Abolitionist Institute.

During the meeting, the Commissioner gave a presentation on the measures taken by the Mauritanian government within the framework of the efforts aimed at the protection and promotion of human rights, particularly the aftermaths of slavery.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Rassoul Ould El Khal, the Legal Advisor, Mr. Moustapha Fati, the Director of Human Rights, Mr. Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikhna, and the President of SOS Slaves NGO, Mr. Boubacar Ould Messaoud.
