Ms. Naha Mint Hamdi Ould Moukness, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Tourism, received, Monday in Nouakchott, Mr. Kovin McDonald, director of the film: “The Mauritanian”, who is currently visiting Mauritania to publicize his film which deals with the story of Mr. Mohamedou Ould Sellahi, a former Guantanamo prisoner.
The Minister discussed with the director of the film the opportunities to make known Mauritania and its cultural and civilizational diversity. Mr. Kevin, a well-known director who has already won an Oscar, said he was impressed by Mauritania’s cultural and tourist environment.
The meeting was attended by the secretary general of the ministry, Mr. Ahmed Salem Ould Bouheda, the technical advisor in charge of communication, Ms. Fatimetou El Mouna, the director of programming and cooperation studies Mr. Guisse Dialel, and the former prisoner, Engineer Mohamedou Ould Sellahi.
The director was accompanied by personalities including his son Isaac McDonald and Mr. Lawrence Topham, director of the film “The Guardian”, which evokes the friendship between Mohamedou Ould Sellahi and his jailer the American Steeve Wood.
