On the sidelines of the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing, Mr. Sidi Ahmed Ould Bouh, the Minister of Economy and Finance, signed, on 4 September, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mr. Yang Weiqun, the Vice President of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDA), to promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
Proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the 76th UN General Assembly, the “Global Development Initiative” aims to promote the general well-being of populations and guide global development toward a new phase of balanced, coordinated, and inclusive growth, thereby revitalizing the economy and pursuing stronger, greener, and more balanced global development.
The initiative is a “road map” aimed at bridging the gap between different countries. It has since been endorsed by the United Nations, more than 100 countries, and more than 20 international organizations, and has been included in several conferences and forums worldwide.
