Mauritanian Embassy in Washington celebrates Africa Day

On Wednesday 29 May, at the headquarters of the African Union in Washington, the Embassy of our country to the United States of America commemorated Africa Day, which falls on May 25 of each year.
The commemoration ceremony, which was chaired by the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in Washington, HE. Mrs. Cisse Mint Cheikh Ould Boida, whose country currently holds the chairmanship of the African Union, was attended by a high-level delegation from the Government of the United States of America, the African diplomatic corps in Washington, ambassadors from the Islamic world, Europe, Asia and Latin America, members of the US Congress and representatives of the United States Congress and representatives from the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the Millennium Challenge Group, opinion leaders, representatives of major American giants, business leaders with strong friendships with Mauritania, NGOs, and American and African media.
Africa Day included a series of workshops on topics related to education, technological development and scientific research, and how to embody these core concerns within the framework of African cooperation with the United States.
During the ceremony, some Mauritanian, Arab and African meals were also presented.
