Prime Minister Receives Senegalese Minister of Livestock

On 16 May, in Nouakchott, Prime Minister Mr. Mohamed Bilal Messoud received Mr. Mabouba Diagne, the Senegalese Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Livestock, who is currently making a working visit to Mauritania.

The talks focused on cooperative relations between the two countries, ways to strengthen and further develop them to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly people and issues of common interest.

In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency at the end of the meeting, the Senegalese Minister of Agriculture expressed, on behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Senegal and his Head of Government, his warm thanks and deep gratitude to the Mauritanian people and government, and through them to His Excellency the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Livestock for the warm welcome and hospitality which were reserved for him and the delegation accompanying him.

He added that the meeting with the Prime Minister focused on the brotherly relations of cooperation between the two countries, illustrated by the fraternal visit made to Mauritania by the President of Senegal shortly after his election, stressing that the Rosso Bridge project is proof of the solidity of these relationships.

The meeting also focused on the harmonization of policies in the field of agriculture, the maintenance of vegetation on both banks of the river, and the export by our country of sheep intended for the sacrifice of Id El Adha (Tabaski).

On this subject, the Senegalese minister congratulated his Mauritanian counterpart for the important measures taken during the very fruitful meetings with Breeders and Traders’ Federations, noting that the border authorities (Wali of Trarza and Governor of Saint-Louis) held meetings to facilitate the organization of the export of livestock intended for Tabaski.
