The Ministry of Culture, Handicrafts, and Relations with the Parliament organized, Monday at the international airport of Nouakchott (Oumtounsy), an official welcome for the Mauritanian Poet Mohamed El Mamy Ould Mohamed Hamed, who ranked second in the IXth edition of the ‘Emir chouara’ (Prince of poets) competition, closed on Tuesday, in the United Arab Emirates.
Upon his arrival, the poet Hamed was greeted by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture, Handicrafts, and Relations with Parliament, Mr. Mohamed Ould Abdallahi Salem Ould Ahmedoua, accompanied by Mr. Cheikh Ould Sidi Abdallah, officer in charge of special duties at the same ministry.
In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency, the poet said he was happy for the welcome he received, and thanked the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani and members of the government, the Minister of Culture, Handicrafts, and Relations with Parliament, the Union of Literary and Writers of Mauritania, and all the parties that have contributed to this important success.
“My ambition was to win the first prize. I hope that Mauritania to always be represented in international festivals. The support I have received is a testament to the importance the Mauritanian government attaches to intellectuals”, concluded Mr. Hamed.
