On 15 April, in Washington, Mr. Abdeslam Ould Mohamed Saleh, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, accompanied by Mr. Albert Muchanga, the AU Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Minerals, chaired a meeting of the Ministers of Economy and Finance and Central Bank Governors of the African Union countries.
The meeting aims to discuss the coordination of positions on the major problems presented to the G20, especially those related to Africa, such as the debt sustainability approach, reforming the governance system of multilateral financial institutions, financing infrastructure supporting development, and a fair energy transition.
The participants agreed on a coordinated working mechanism to guarantee Africa’s interests during the upcoming G20 summit in Brazil next November and actively participate in the specialized ministerial and technical meetings that will be held during the upcoming months before the summit.
After this meeting, the Mauritanian delegation held a private meeting with the AU Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Minerals, during which the coordination mechanism related to the G20 Summit was set between our country, which chairs the African Union, and the relevant AU Commission.
