In Appreciation of his Election as Chairman of the African Union, Nouakchott Residents Organize a Warm Public Reception for the President of the Republic

Thousands of residents of the capital Nouakchott lined up Monday evening at the junction of the “Abraad” roundabout in the capital, Nouakchott, and on the sides of the main road leading to Nouakchott International Airport “Om El Tunisi”, to receive His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, upon his return from Addis Ababa, where he chaired the thirty-seventh ordinary session of the General Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

Thousands have flocked from all sides since the early hours of this evening to receive His Excellency in a scene full of enthusiasm, pride and pride in the homeland, which has become a prominent position among the countries of the African continent, and even all countries of the world, under the wise leadership of His Excellency the President of the Republic, who received the recommendation of all his African counterparts for the rotating presidency of the African Union for the year 2024, during the 37th ordinary session of the Union, held on Saturday in Addis Ababa.

The participants in the demonstration expressed their appreciation for the gains achieved during the era of His Excellency the President of the Republic from mega projects that touch the lives of citizens, and his ambitious vision that enabled the achievement of a development renaissance that included all parts of the country and in all fields.

The participants in the demonstration, including politicians, opinion leaders and social actors, demanded a second mission for His Excellency the President of the Republic, renewing their commitment to the choices of His Excellency, and praising the development renaissance that the country is witnessing that seriously requires his re-election to continue the train of construction and development that he embodied on the ground through his electoral project, which represented a glimmer of hope for every Mauritanian citizen who dreams of a better tomorrow.

On the sidelines of the demonstration, the Mauritanian News Agency surveyed some popular opinions from those who came to congratulate His Excellency the President of the Republic on his presidency of the African Union, and in this regard, the political activist of the Equity Party “Coalition of Loyalty to the Full-Time Zeina”, Mr. Salek Ould Abdi, stressed that their presence today clearly reflects the extent of their attachment to His Excellency the President of the Republic, who witnessed during his mission a qualitative leap in all fields, even at the continental level.

Mauritania’s chairmanship of the African Union is a historic gain that will be preserved by the collective memory of the Mauritanian people, he said.

For her part, political activist in the Insaf Party, Mrs. Abiy, explained that the Mauritanian people proved through this demonstration their support for His Excellency the President of the Republic, explaining that the activists of the Insaf Party attended in large numbers to congratulate His Excellency the President of the Republic on the rotating presidency, which he won unanimously from his African counterparts.

The demonstration was attended by high figures in the state, heads of political parties, parliamentarians and others.
