Minister of Economy Signs Financing Agreement with International Fund for Agricultural Development

On Thursday, 15 Fabruary, in Rome, with the Regional Director for West and Central Africa of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Mr. Bernard Hein, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh, signed an additional financing agreement for the project for the sustainable management of natural resources, municipal equipment and organization of rural producers (PROGRES), with a financial envelope of 18,696,000 US dollars.

This financing aims to support and improve the agricultural production and productivity of reclamations established within the framework of the portfolio of projects supported by the Fund (small and medium dams, qualified agricultural areas, etc.). As well as the establishment of rural economic and social infrastructure within the framework of supporting local development, as well as the preparation of future investments within the framework of the thirteenth round of financing of the Global Fund for Agricultural Development in Mauritania.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Dahi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Investment Promotion Agency of Mauritania, Mr. Moussa Vall, and Director General of Finance and Economic Cooperation, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Nani.
