On 16 February, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, arrived in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, to participate in the 37th Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU).
His Excellency, the President of the Republic was greeted as he got off the plane by a high-level Ethiopian government delegation and members of the staff of our embassy and our diplomatic mission in Addis Ababa, led by Ms. Khadija M’barek Fall, our ambassador to the Republic of Ethiopia and the African Union.
After listening to the anthem of the African Union, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani reviewed the military formations that came to pay him honors, following artistic dances presented by artists welcoming his arrival.
His Excellency the President of the Republic is accompanied by a large delegation including the following personalities:
– Mr. Mokhtar Ould Diaye, the Minister in charge of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic;
– Ms. Coumba Ba, a minister counselor at the Presidency of the Republic,
– Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad;
– Ms. Khadija M’barek Fall, the Ambassador of Mauritania in Addis Ababa;
– Mr. Ahmed Ould Bahini, an officer in charge of special duties at the Presidency of the Republic;
– Mr. Harouna Traore, project manager at the Presidency of the Republic; – Mr. Ahmed Salem Ould Mohamed Fadhel, an officer in charge of special duties at the Presidency of the Republic;
– Mr. Sid’Ahmed Ould Bouh, an advisor at the Presidency of the Republic;
– Mr. Cheikh Ould Bedda, an advisor at the Presidency of the Republic;
– Mr. El Hassan Ould Ahmed, the Director General of State Protocol.
This conference comes within the framework of a consensus of Member States of the North Africa region of the African Union to choose our country to hold the rotating presidency of the African Union for the year 2024.
