The Minister of Petroleum,Mines and Energy, Mr. Abdesselam Ould Mohamed Saleh, inaugurated a training center in Nouakchott on Tuesday, along with representatives of BP and its joint venture partner Kosmos Energy.
The center aims to strengthen national skills and capacities in the field of oil and gaz.
In a speech on the occasion, the Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy indicated that the inauguration of the training center is a proof of the government’s commitment to encourage foreign investment and good collaboration with our partners BP and Kosmos, stressing that their financial support for for its construction is only one part of a series of training and capacity building activities that BP, on behalf of the GTA operators, is implementing in Mauritania.
He added that other programs already include continuous traning of 24 Mauritanian technicians for phase 1 of the Big Turtle « Grand Tortue Ahmeyim » (GTA) project.
For his part, the representative of BP said that it is a pleasure for the company and its partners to participate in this memorable ceremony.
For his part, the representative of Kosmos Energy declared that his group ‘’came to Mauritania to work there for many years and considers itself itself as a long-term partner, deeply committed to helping the host country to create a bright future.’’
The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Petroleum, Mines, and Energy and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Mauritania.
