The Republic Islamic of Mauritania welcomed the kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s initiative aiming to end the Yemeni crisis, through proposals leading to a peaceful settlement, under the auspices of the United Nations.
In a communique issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mauritania affirmed its firm demand for a prompt, comprehensive, and permanent solution to the crisis of Yemen, following the 2216 resolution of the Security Council, the outcome of Yemen’s national dialogue, and the Gulf initiative and its implementation mechanisms.

“The brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced yesterday an initiative to end the crisis in brotherly Yemen, through proposals leading to a peaceful settlement, under the auspices of the United Nations. In this regard; the Islamic Republic of Mauritania supports and welcomes this initiative, which is in line with regional and international efforts and the outcome of the consultations of the Yemeni parties in Geneva, Kuwait, and Stockholm.
We reaffirm our firm demand for a prompt, comprehensive, and lasting solution to the Yemeni crisis, under the 2216 Security Council Resolution, the outcomes of the Yemeni national dialogue, and the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanisms to boost security and stability in the region and put an end to the exacerbating human suffering in brotherly Yemen”.
