The Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports and Relations with Parliament, Mr. Ahmed Sayed Ahmed Edje, oversaw the conclusion of the activities of the 12th edition of the Madayn Heritage Festival, organized from 8 to 12 of this month in Walata city.
The closing evening of the festival was marked by the distribution of cash prizes considering the winners of the Holy Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, Sira, Arabic language, camel racing and traditional games, as well as the usual theatrical, praise and musical performances in the evening.
During the closing of the event, His Excellency the Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports and Relations with Parliament said that the developmental component of this edition of the festival affected various aspects of life for the city’s residents, such as water, electricity, agriculture and health. , praising the historic decision taken by His Excellency the President of the Republic in the Chinguetti edition in 2019 to add the developmental dimension of the festival to promote the residents of these cities.
He added that his sector worked to enrich the scientific aspect of the festival, through printing a book on the history of Walata and issued its own magazine, and the ministry restored the oldest corridor in the old city, in addition to developing competitions organized on the sidelines of the event, including the President’s Competition for Fine Arts.
