The President of the Republic Inaugurates the First Phase of the Project to Build a Network of Warehouses for the Food Security Commission

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, inaugurated on Tuesday morning in the city of Aleg, the first phase of the project to build a network of warehouses for the Food Security Commission.

The first phase of this project includes the construction of warehouses in the wilayas of Gorgol, Brakna, Adrar, Tagant and Tirs Zemmour, with different capacities depending on the population of each wilaya and the extent of its area.

These warehouses are part of a project to enhance UNHCR’s storage capacity, under which 33 new warehouses will be built throughout the country’s wilayas, with a storage capacity of 134,900 tons, which will increase the storage capacity of UNHCR by 107%.

This project, which has a total cost of 452,910,448 new Ouguiyas, falls within the framework of the implementation of the pledges of His Excellency the President of the Republic, in its aspect related to food security, by providing the necessary infrastructure to achieve self-sufficiency in the field of foodstuffs.

After cutting the symbolic ribbon and removing the commemorative curtain, His Excellency the President of the Republic continued a presentation on these warehouses and the technical methods used in their construction, and the extent to which they contribute to providing food security, and keeping pace with social programs within which the distributions of basic materials are carried out for the benefit of vulnerable classes of society in various regions of the country.
