Minister of Petroleum: Mauritania Pursues a Strategic path to Exploit its gas and Renewable Energy Capabilities

At the end of his participation in the COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai, the Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy, Mr. Nani Ould Chrougha, thanked the United Arab Emirates for organizing this successful international summit, which culminated in the adoption of important decisions such as the establishment of a financing fund to compensate countries affected by losses caused by the effects of climate change.

Mauritania’s participation in this event was marked by the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding with international partners to establish new projects to produce renewable energy and green hydrogen, within the framework of the national vision to produce alternative energy and combat the effects of climate change, he said in a press statement.

Mauritania is pursuing a strategic path to exploit its natural gas potential, as well as developing projects to produce renewable energies and green hydrogen, in line with the criteria for a just, equitable and safe energy transition, he said.
