Prime Minister Receives UN System Mission Team

On 25 October, the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Messaoud, received, at his office in Nouakchott, a mission team from the United Nations system currently visiting our country, headed by the Regional Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Africa, Ahunna Eziakonwa

The meeting discussed cooperation relations between Mauritania and the United Nations system and ways to strengthen and develop them.

After the meeting, the United Nations Special Coordinator for Sahel Development explained in a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency that he came with the regional director of the United Nations Development Programme to meet the Prime Minister to discuss issues of interest to the strong partnership between the Mauritanian government and the United Nations Development Programme and work to strengthen this partnership.

He also said that during the last meeting of the special envoys, they stressed the importance of supporting the Sahel countries, and since Mauritania holds the rotating presidency of the Group of Five in the Sahel, it makes sense to reaffirm its commitments to support the countries of the group.

During the meeting, the UN official reaffirmed the determination of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to continue programs aimed at developing the Sahel region, which is currently witnessing a difficult situation, the UN official added.
