President of Republic: “The Atmosphere That Ccharacterized the Electoral Campaign Reflected the Awareness of our People, the Maturity of our Political Class, and the Consolidation of Democratic Practice in our Country.”
His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, thanked all Mauritanian citizens for their responsibility and the remarkable way in which they conducted the electoral campaign.
In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency, after performing his electoral duty on 13 May, at the ENS in the Ksar Moughataa, His Excellency added that despite the large turnout, the strong
competition, and the different opinions and positions, all the citizens insisted that this be done in an atmosphere of discipline and responsibility, which made it possible to put an end to this campaign without recording any behavior that could undermine the peace or tranquility.
He said that this atmosphere, which characterized the campaign, is the great proof of the level of consciousness of our people, the maturity of our political class, and the consolidation of democratic practice in our country, Praise be to Allah.
His Excellency the President of the Republic expressed his appreciation for the great effort made by the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that these elections took place in a satisfactory and transparent manner, in accordance with the letter and the spirit of the historic political agreement which
was concluded between the government and the political parties.
His Excellency explained that the government was committed, from the beginning, to the success of these elections, starting with an agreement with all the political parties on their organization and the identification of their staff and their legal texts, as well as
ensuring the financial and logistical aspects in a transparent manner and disbursing the sums allocated to fund the campaign before the start of the campaign.
Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani clarified that everyone awaits the decision of the citizen to whom all appropriate conditions had been provided to vote freely, transparently, and honestly after the speeches of politicians in recent days through their meetings and the media.
The President of the Republic stressed that he had come to this polling station today to vote in this important ballot, calling on all citizens registered on the electoral list, whether they are in Mauritania or abroad,
to have, today, as a first priority the fulfillment of this duty and the exercise of this civil right guaranteed by law.
