President of Republic: “The China-Arab States Summit Consecrates the Common Political Will To Establish a Model of Fruitful, Constructive Cooperation”
His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, affirmed that the first China-Arab States Forum is a consecration of the common Arab-Chinese policy and the will to establish a model of fruitful cooperation and which will be the pillar of a well-established strategic partnership and of a qualitative change in the general process of this forum.
He also indicated that the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the People’s Republic of China maintain solid relations of friendship and cooperation, which continue to develop in the service of the vital interests of the two friendly people and of peace and international security.
The President of the Republic delivered his speech on 9 December at the opening of the China-Arab States Forum currently held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

“His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman,
His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China,
Majesties, Highnesses, and Excellencies;
His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ladies and gentlemen,
First of all, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and to His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, Prince Mohamed Bin Salman, for the welcome by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of the first summit of the China-Arab States Forum, for its good preparation, and perfect coordination. Thank you for the Kingdom; leaders, and people, for the good welcome and for the genuine Arab hospitality that we and our delegation had been the object of.
I also congratulate His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, the President of the friendly People’s Republic of China, for the attention he gives day after day to strengthen Arab-China cooperation and for his determination to consolidate the ties that unite the two parties. . The Arab countries and the People’s Republic of China share many common values as they share the same pursuit of strengthening cooperation among themselves and building comprehensive sustainable development capable of achieving economic and social prosperity for all people in permanent security and peace.
The holding of this summit, the first at the level of the Sino-Arab leaders, constitutes a consecration of our common political will to establish a fruitful and constructive cooperation model, which will be the pillar of a well-established strategic partnership and of a qualitative change in the general process of this forum.
The China-Arab Cooperation Forum has built a solid bridge of cooperation between China and Arab countries, thanks to the participatory approach it has adopted based on the principle of win-win, within a framework of mutual respect and taking into account the specificities of each party.
The strength of the interdependence between our Arab countries and the People’s Republic of China is reflected in our firm solidarity in the international arena, whether in terms of our support for the principle of one China or China’s support for our central Arab issues.
This is also reflected in our partnership within the Belt and Road Initiative, which opens up great opportunities for Arab-China cooperation by creating new economic dynamics and intensifying bilateral cooperation and exchanges.
In this respect, bilateral cooperation is diversified and solid between the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the People’s Republic of China, which share strong relations of friendship and have continued to develop in the service of the vital interests of our two friendly people and international peace and security.
The People’s Republic of China has accompanied our country since its independence in the early sixties of the last century and has provided it with political and development support. This support has grown in recent years.
Today, China is Mauritania’s largest trading partner. China-Mauritania cooperation includes various fields such as infrastructure, fisheries, health, education, etc. I highly appreciate China’s steady support for our country.
In this context, my country highly appreciates the announcement made today by President Xi Jinping, in his speech at this summit, of the “eight common actions” related to development, food security, health, green development, innovation, energy, dialogue among civilizations, promotion of youth, security, and stability; all of this is in line with our national priorities.

The difficulty of the current regional and international situation, with its entanglement of serious security, economic, and environmental crises, makes us aspire that this summit, together with the rest of the existing cooperation mechanisms, contribute to deepening the Arab-China strategic dialogue for helping to meet the different challenges we all face, by strengthening the bond of common destiny.
One of these most important challenges is the need to consolidate security and peace in our Arab homeland.
This will not happen without the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Al Quds as its capital, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The difficulty of the current regional and international situation with its entanglement of serious security, economic, and environmental crises, makes us aspire that this summit, together with the rest of the existing cooperation mechanisms, will contribute to enhancing the Arab-China strategic dialogue for helping to meet the different challenges we all face, by strengthening the bond of common destiny.
One of the challenges to raise is the need to consolidate security and peace in our Arab homeland.

Added to this is the important role of the forum in raising the level of trade and contributing to the ability of our Arab economies to create added value and accelerate growth to achieve common prosperity.
In sum, the hopes we are placing in the Arab-China Cooperation Forum are vast. I am sure that our summit will strengthen its role and increase its effectiveness in building sustainable development and establishing lasting peace and security for the Arab countries, the People’s Republic of China, and the world, in general.
