Minister of Trade Returns to Nouakchott

On 15 November, Mr. Lemrabott Ould Benahi, the Minister of Trade, Industry, Handicrafts, and Tourism, returned to Nouakchott from Algiers where he participated in the Arab International SME Conference & Expo (SMEX ALGERIA) which took place from 12 to 14 November in Algiers.
This economic event, jointly organized by the Arab Union for Industrial Exports Development (AUIED) and the Algerian Fairs and Exports Company (Safex), focused on several topics, including the policies and programs of Arab and African governments for development and support for SMEs, as well as the financing of this type of business.
Debates and panels planned focused on the prospects for Arab-African cooperation in the field of SMEs, the upgrading of these companies, as well as the opportunities and challenges of the fourth industrial revolution (4.0) and digital transformation.
Some 400 Algerians, Africans, and Arab exhibitors participated in the exhibition which was held concurrently with the conference. They represent various sectors including the mechanical industry, telecoms, financial services, tourism, ICT, logistics, and agri-food.
