President of Republic: “The Green Middle East Initiative Reflects Saudi Arabia’s Commitment and Leadership for a More Sustainable World”
On 7 November in Sharm El Sheikh, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, said that the “Green Middle East” initiative launched by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, confirms the commitment and leadership of the Kingdom to international efforts aimed at building a more sustainable future for the whole world.
In a speech before the Green Middle East Summit, His Excellency indicated that the measures taken within the framework of this initiative and its positive impact on the environment, would constitute strong support for the efforts of the African continent in the face of climate change and its economic and social repercussions, particularly the efforts undertaken in this regard by the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
Here is a translation of the speech:
“In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Beneficent;
Prayers and peace be upon his messenger;
Excellency Mr. Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, the President of the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince, Prime Minister of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,
Majesties,
Excellencies and Highnesses,
Ladies and gentlemen,
I would like, first of all, to express my deep gratitude for the kind invitation I received from my dear brother, His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and His Excellency Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, the President of the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, to participate in the second edition of the Green Middle East Summit.
This initiative, launched in 2021 by His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, confirms the commitment and leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in international efforts aimed at building a more sustainable future for the world as a whole. It also reflects his concern for a collective approach to climate change in the region.
Certainly, the measures taken within the framework of this initiative and their positive impact on the environment will constitute strong support for the efforts of the African continent in the face of climate change and its economic and social repercussions, particularly the efforts undertaken by the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in this regard, which are translated into our national contribution, which was reviewed at the Glasgow Summit.
As we reaffirm our support for the Green Middle East initiative and the forward-looking vision that guides it, we wish it and its initiator, His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, full success.
Thank you
May peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.”
