Minister of Culture Leaves for Egypt

On 18 September, Mr. Mohamed Ould Soueidatt, the Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Relations with Parliament, left Nouakchott for the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to participate in the 52nd ordinary session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information, to be organized by the Egyptian government in coordination with the League of Arab States from 20 to 22 September 2022.
According to a statement released by the League of Arab States, the new session will include the holding of the 15th ordinary session of the executive bureau and the 97th session of the Arab permanent information commission. It will also examine some issues, particularly the continuation of the media support for the Palestinian cause, the revitalization of the objectives of the Arab media strategy for the period 2022-2026, including the Arab media’s treatment of crisis and disaster information, in the light of national experiences in facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
It will also deal with the follow-up of the media action plan abroad and the role of information in he fight against terrorism and extremism, in addition to the Arab media map for sustainable development 2030 and the integration of educational information in the school curricula of member countries.
The statement added that the Arab Ministers of Information will also discuss some organizational and structural issues before reviewing the intense activities that have marked the action of the Arab League missions and centers in close collaboration with the Arab ambassadors to other countries. They will also learn about reports from media organizations and unions and the activities of the Arab Information Capital.
The statement noted that the session would witness the establishment of participatory approaches and practical initiatives to develop Arab information in the context of accelerated transformations in the media and digital scene, particularly with regard to the creation of the observatory and integrated platform, the Arab Electronic Information Commission website, and a unified Arab strategy to deal with major media companies.
