The Minister of Equipement and Transports, Mr. Moktar Ahmed Yedaly returned on Monday, to Nouakchott Coming from the United States of America (USA) after participating in a high-level meeting of The UN General Assembly for improving road safety in the world, which took place in New York from 30 June to 1 July.
The meeting was an opportunity for The UN General Assembly to adopt a policy statement aimed at intensifying efforts and following up on the implementation of strict measures to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by traffic accidents by 50% before 2030, in line with the ten-year goals of action for road safety (2021-2030).
The Minister chaired the second session of this meeting, recalled our country’s commitment to work on road safety, calling for taking into account the peculiarities of desert countries such as Mauritania.
