The minister of Islamic Affairs and Original Education, Mr. Dah Ould Sidi Ould Amar Taleb, received Monday in Nouakchott Mr. El Ghassim Wane, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Mali and Head of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali, accompanied by the military commander of the peacekeeping forces in Mali (MINUSMA) and several representatives of civil society in this sisterly country.
The meeting focused on Mauritania’s experience in combating extremism.
The minister expressed his satisfaction with the visit of this delegation, and the level of appreciation of the UN mission for the efforts of the Mauritanian government in implementing the vision of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Sheikh Al-Ghazouani for the fight against terrorism and extremism. This vision is comprehensive as it is not limited to dialogue only, but it takes into consideration the economic, political aspects, and good governance, and combating injustice.
The minister stresses the sector’s readiness to share this experience with the brothers in Mali and support them following the general policy of the government. In his turn, the head of MINUSMA expressed his admiration for the Mauritanian experience in the fight against terrorism, noting that the purpose of this visit is to benefit from this experience.
