Agriculture Minister Meets with World Bank’s Resident Representative

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Mr. Ahmed Babe Ely, received the World Bank’s Resident Representative in Mauritania, Mr. Abou Diouf on Tuesday, at his office in Nouakchott.

The meeting addressed aspects of the ongoing cooperation between Mauritania and the World Bank, particularly in the field of agricultural development.

The Minister praised the World Bank’s support for Mauritania’s food security and sovereignty, calling for continued assistance to strengthen the agricultural sector, improve productivity, and modernize farming through enhanced infrastructure, improved vegetable cultivation, and the provision of necessary resources to achieve sustainable development goals.

For his part, the World Bank’s Resident Representative expressed his institution’s readiness to support Mauritania’s efforts to develop the agricultural sector by implementing projects funded through bilateral cooperation, thereby supporting the achievement of shared goals in the field of agricultural development.
