His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received Prime Minister Mr. El Moctar Ould Djay on Friday at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott and tasked him with forming a new government.
Following the meeting, the Prime Minister made the following statement:
“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. May prayers and peace be upon His noble Prophet.
His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received me a few moments ago and tasked me with submitting a proposal for the formation of a new government.
I naturally expressed to His Excellency my thanks and gratitude for entrusting me with this mission.
His Excellency’s confidence is invaluable. It is a great responsibility, and I pray to Almighty Allah to grant me the ability to fulfil it to the fullest and meet His Excellency’s expectations.
I will immediately begin preparing a proposal for the formation of a new government.
In accordance with His Excellency’s directives, this government must possess the necessary political and technical expertise to continue implementing the ‘My Ambition for the Nation’ programme.
It must also be capable of addressing the challenges posed by the current global crisis, particularly by strengthening the social safety net to help our most vulnerable citizens better cope with the repercussions of this crisis.
In line with His Excellency’s directives, this government must also be able to generate genuine momentum and foster real hope in education and training, employment, participation, and the empowerment of our youth, both in cities and in rural areas.
Finally, this government must be capable of promoting local development in our cities and the regions of the country’s interior.
These are the directives His Excellency gave us a few moments ago. With the help of Almighty Allah, we will get to work to submit, as soon as possible, a proposal that meets these requirements and reflects these directives, paving the way for the appointment of the new government.
Thank you”.
