Minister of Economic Affairs Meets with WBG’s Vice President

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, Mr. Abdallahi O. Souleymane O. Cheikh-Sidia, received on Monday the WBG’s (World Bank) Vice President for West and Central Africa, Mr. Ousmane Jagana at his office in Nouakchott. The official is currently on a two-day official visit to the country.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen Mauritania and the WBG cooperation and their strategic partnership to serve national development priorities and achieve macroeconomic stability.

This meeting comes as part of efforts to strengthen strategic dialogue and monitor the implementation of the new Country Partnership Framework (2026–2030), which focuses on advancing economic diversification, private sector development, job creation, agricultural transformation, and improving access to energy, as well as increasing the population’s resilience to shocks and improving connectivity and institutions.
