Minister of Culture receives Delegation from the Sharjah Department of Culture

Nouakchott

On 15 June at his office in Nouakchott, the Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with Parliament, and Government Spokesperson, Mr Al-Hussein Ould Meddou, received a delegation from the Sharjah Department of Culture, led by Mr Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Qasir, Director of Cultural Affairs at the Department.

The meeting addressed aspects of cultural cooperation between the two countries and ways to develop them.

The Minister praised the role played by Sharjah, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, in supporting culture and cultural figures, which is in line with our country’s approach in this regard, under the noble guidance of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, who attaches particular importance to this sector, as evidenced by his efforts to revitalise and support the national cultural movement, and to establish an infrastructure that meets all its necessary requirements, in accordance with the latest standards, across all regions of the country.

For his part, Mr Mohamed Ibrahim Al-Qasir praised the pioneering role played by the Mauritanian Ministry of Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with Parliament, as an important partner on whom there is growing reliance to bring about a genuine cultural movement, given the genuine commitment and open-mindedness of those in charge to further cooperation in the service of the sector.

It is worth noting that the delegation is visiting our country to help oversee the organisation of the annual Sharjah Cultural Honours Forum, which is to be held Tuesday, during which four leading Mauritanian researchers, who have made significant contributions to Arab cultural discourse, will be honoured.
