On 7 May in Bangui, His Excellency the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin Archange Touadéra, received the Minister in charge of the General Secretariat of the Government, Mr Mokhtar El-Husseinou Lam, in his capacity as Special Envoy of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
This visit forms part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and consultation between Mauritania and the Central African Republic, and to discuss a number of issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the Minister gave a presentation on the Islamic Republic of Mauritania’s candidacy for the post of Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie, represented by Dr Koumba Ba, who currently holds the position of Minister and Special Envoy of the President of the Republic to the Organisation of La Francophonie.
The Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie is expected to be elected during the 20th Francophonie Summit, scheduled to take place in the Kingdom of Cambodia between 14 and 16 November 2026.
