On 4 May in Nouakchott, Ms. Fatimetou Mint Khattri, Commissioner for Food Security, received Mr. Guiguigbaza-Kossigan Dayo, Director General of the Regional Center for Agriculture, Water, and Meteorology (AGRHYMET), which operates under the Permanent Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel and West Africa (CILSS).
The meeting reviewed the cooperative relations between Mauritania and this organization.
The Director General of the Center also gave a presentation on the institution’s new approach, which integrates economic and climate dimensions, as well as the impacts of the security context, into its programs. The aim is to help member states address the various challenges affecting food security for populations in the Sahel region.
