Defense Minister Opens Sahel Leadership Forum

On April 29 in Nouakchott, Mr. Hanenna Ould Sidi, Minister of Defense, Retirees, and Children of Martyrs’ Affairs, presided over the opening of the Global Forum on Field Leadership for the Sahel region. The event was attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad; Interior, Decentralization and Local Development; and Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

Organized jointly by the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the NATO Defense College, the forum aims to strengthen strategic thinking among decision-makers and promote the exchange of experiences and analyses, contributing to the development of shared approaches to current security challenges.

The forum also provides a platform for constructive dialogue between Mauritania and its regional and international partners, particularly NATO, helping to enhance coordination and unify efforts to address common threats, including terrorism, organized crime and irregular migration.
