President of Republic Meets With Democratic Opposition Institution’s Executive Committee

On 2 April in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Republic, met with the executive committee of the Democratic Opposition Institution, led by Mr. Hamadi Sidi Mokhtar.

The meeting discussed a range of current national issues, particularly the important decisions adopted at the last Cabinet meeting, notably those concerning the repercussions of the energy crisis and recent international developments on the economic and social situation.

In this context, the meeting reviewed the various measures taken by the government to mitigate the effects of rising prices, support vulnerable groups, and preserve economic and financial stability, with the aim of strengthening social stability and maintaining citizens’ purchasing power.

This meeting is part of the open-door approach that the President of the Republic intends to promote through ongoing consultation with various political actors, thereby consolidating a culture of responsible dialogue in the nation’s best interest.
