The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad has condemned in the strongest possible terms the attack targeting energy and desalination facilities in the brotherly State of Kuwait.

In a statement released on 30 March, the ministry reaffirmed Mauritania’s full solidarity with the State of Kuwait in all measures it takes to protect its national sovereignty, ensure the safety of its citizens, and preserve its vital infrastructure.

Here is the full text of the statement:

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad has taken note of the deliberate attack targeting energy production and desalination facilities in the brotherly State of Kuwait, which constitutes a serious violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

The Ministry, while condemning in the strongest terms this aggression against infrastructure essential for the supply of drinking water to civilians, reaffirms its full support for the State of Kuwait in the measures it has taken to protect its national sovereignty, the security of its citizens, and the safeguarding of its resources.

It calls on all relevant international and regional parties, as well as the international community, to act without delay to put an end to the escalation and ensure the safety of civilians and civilian infrastructure in the region.”
