On March 25 in Geneva, Minister of Public Service and Labor Mariem Mint Boydiel Ould Houmeid held talks with Vera Pedro, Director of the Governance and Tripartism Department at the International Labour Organization (ILO). The meeting was part of efforts to strengthen cooperative relations between the two parties.
The meeting aimed to develop Mauritania’s labor system and promote social dialogue in accordance with economic and social development requirements.
The discussions focused on capacity building for social dialogue, assessing the National Council for Social Dialogue’s situation, and improving labor inspectors’ and supervisors’ effectiveness. The two parties also discussed the Director of Governance’s participation in the general social security forums scheduled to take place in Nouakchott from April 21 to 23.
The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm both parties’ commitment to continued coordination, consultation, and development of the existing partnership to contribute to achieving decent work objectives and entrenching social justice principles.
