Economy Minister Receives FAO Representative

Mr. Abdallahi O. Souleymane O. Cheikh-Sidia, Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, received this Thursday afternoon at his office in Nouakchott His Excellency Mr. Jean Senahoun, Resident Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Mauritania.

During the meeting, discussions focused on ways to develop and broaden the scope of the existing partnership between Mauritania and this specialized UN agency.

The two sides placed particular emphasis on economic and development areas of mutual interest, especially programs aimed at supporting productive sectors and achieving self-sufficiency, in line with the national strategy for accelerated growth and shared prosperity.

They also discussed ways to strengthen the pivotal role of the FAO in supporting our country’s efforts to enhance the resilience of the agricultural and livestock sectors in the face of climate and economic challenges.
