Prime Minister Opens 6th African Conference for Promotion of Peace

His Excellency the Prime Minister, Mr. Mokhtar Ould Diay, today, Tuesday, presided over the opening of the sixth edition of the African Conference for the Promotion of Peace, held at the Mokhtar Ould Daddah Conference Center in Nouakchott.

In his opening address, the Prime Minister affirmed that the challenges of extremism, intolerance, violence, and terrorism cannot be decisively and sustainably overcome except by relying, first and foremost, on thought and values. This, he noted, is what His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, has recognized and made a cornerstone of the country’s integrated security strategy.

He explained that this strategy is based on linking development with security, emphasizing the need to strengthen social justice, entrench the rule of law, and guarantee equality in rights and duties. It also includes an intellectual dimension focused on promoting the values of moderation and balance, and on consolidating the principles of fraternity, mutual respect, cooperation, and solidarity
