The President of the Republic Chairs a Meeting with Local Officials in Makama and Affirms the State’s Commitment to Comprehensive Development and Youth Empowerment

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Sheikh Ghazouani, chaired a meeting with officials of the district yesterday evening in the city of Makama, as part of the second phase of his familiarization and work visit to the Guidimakha region.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency expressed his gratitude to the residents of the Makama district for the warm welcome they extended to him and for their participation, which was undoubtedly important and valuable in the reception held at the regional level, particularly in its capital, Kaedi.

He explained that the purpose of this meeting is for the citizens present to act as messengers to the rest of the citizens, conveying their concerns, expressing their problems and deficiencies, and sharing their aspirations for achievement.

His Excellency further explained that the foremost lever for youth empowerment is education, pointing to the republican school system that ensures equal learning conditions for all children of the nation. He also stressed the importance of advanced studies for those who wish to pursue them, alongside the importance of vocational education for young people who want to integrate quickly into the labor market.

His Excellency called for the necessity of guiding and supporting the youth, despite it sometimes being difficult, emphasizing that they are an essential pillar indispensable for the present and the future, while at the same time warning against harmful phenomena, primarily drugs.

In this regard, he announced that the state will ask the government to prepare a plan involving the concerned sectors to address these phenomena and enhance the integration of youth.

Regarding civil affairs, His Excellency the President of the Republic confirmed that the necessary measures will be taken to bring civil services closer to citizens, even in areas lacking electricity or internet, while stressing the responsibility of citizens to visit civil affairs offices and not to neglect this duty.

He explained that civil documents are essential for life, whether for education, travel, or social integration, assuring that no citizen will remain without documents, and calling on everyone to make efforts and cooperate to achieve this goal.
