President of Republic Receives New Canadian Ambassador’s Credentials

On 3 February, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, received the credentials of H.E. Ms. Sabelle Vallois, in her capacity as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

The President of the Republic then granted an audience to the Canadian diplomat, in the presence of Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad.

Following the audience, the Canadian diplomat made the following statement to the Mauritanian news agency:

“I am Canada’s Ambassador to Mauritania. I have just presented my credentials to His Excellency, the President of the Republic, who welcomed me with great cordiality.

I am very happy to be in Nouakchott, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, a good country that I am looking forward to discovering. I appreciate the generosity of the Mauritanian people.
