President of Republic Inaugurates CNSS Regional Agency

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, inaugurated the new headquarters of the Regional Agency of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) in Nouadhibou on Tuesday. The event was held as part of the celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of National Independence Day.

His Excellency toured the various wings of the facility, reviewing its components and receiving briefings on the services it will provide to workers in the city—the country’s economic capital. The new headquarters is designed to bring the Fund’s services closer to beneficiaries throughout the Dakhlet Nouadhibou region.

The two-story building features 26 offices organized by service area. Facilities include a reception desk, a meeting room, a supervision room, and a data collection information center linked to the national network, as well as a mosque and a café.

Financed by the state budget at a total cost of 14.7 million new ouguiyas, the agency will enhance access to vital social services, including family benefits, pensions, and occupational risk compensations.

In her address, the Minister of Public Service and Labor, Ms. Mariem Boydiel Houmeid, emphasized that this inauguration reflects the state’s commitment to social protection as a fundamental pillar of development. She affirmed that since assuming office, His Excellency has placed the social dimension at the heart of the national project, rooted in the belief that a modern state must protect its workforce and safeguard their rights.

The Minister added that social protection is an integrated vision that redefines the relationship between the state and the citizen—ensuring that labor is valued, rights are acknowledged, and retirement is a stage of dignity. This approach has been embodied in tangible measures to improve living standards for retirees and ensure fairness for working women.

She concluded by noting that the establishment of this agency in Nouadhibou, the nation’s economic hub, is a pivotal step in decentralizing administration and improving public service. The facility will provide rapid, integrated services to workers, retirees, and employers, sparing them the burden of travel and long wait times.
