On December 29, 2025 (MNA) – His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, today, Monday, presided over the 2025 Chinguetti Awards ceremony at the Mokhtar Ould Daddah International Conference Center in Nouakchott.
The Chairman of the Chinquitit Prize Board, Mr. Isselkou Ould Ahmed Azeidbih, emphasized in a speech on the occasion that the presence of His Excellency the President at this event reflects a firm belief that scientific research constitutes a fundamental pillar for comprehensive development, praising the developmental vision pursued by His Excellency to support the prize and enhance its status nationally, regionally, and internationally.
He added that the special attention given by the President to the Shinqit Award has contributed to its development and expanded its influence, highlighting that the award’s recognition by the General Assembly of the Arab Awards Forum, in its fifth session in the Emirate of Dubai, constitutes an international acknowledgment of its status and role in serving culture and knowledge.
Mr. Iselkou Ould Ahmed Azidbih explained that the Chinguiti Prize has, for twenty-five years, remained a platform for reviving the influence of the Chinguitis in the history of knowledge, and a catalyst for promoting scientific research and creative competition. Since its inception, the number of winners has reached 86 researchers, distributed across the fields of Islamic studies, literature, arts, sciences, and technologies.
He pointed out that this year’s session witnessed unprecedented participation, with the application rate rising to 141% compared to last season, and researchers and professors from 17 nationalities, representing all four continents, applied for the award.
As for the winner of the Chinguiti Prize for Science and Technology, she expressed her great pride in this achievement, considering it a recognition of her research path, which is based on harnessing science to serve humans and society, emphasizing that knowledge constitutes a fundamental pillar for development and the advancement of communities.
She explained that this research focused on developing innovative solutions using biotechnology to address global health challenges, particularly antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic-resistant bacteria, which are considered among the most serious health challenges expected in the future.
She expressed her sincere thanks and gratitude to His Excellency the President of the Republic for his distinguished patronage of the Chinguetti Prize, appreciating the efforts of the Prize Council in supporting scientists and researchers and encouraging scientific research.
