On 11 December, in Nouakchott, Mr. Mohamed Bamba Meguett, Speaker of the National Assembly, received a high-level German delegation led by Mr. Roland Tichy, member of the Bundestag, accompanied by Mr. Lars Dobbert, political advisor at the German Embassy, and representatives of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Discussions during the meeting focused on the friendly relations and cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Federal Republic of Germany, particularly in the parliamentary sphere, as well as several issues of common interest related to security challenges.
The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen and consolidate these relations.
In his speech, the President of the National Assembly welcomed the visit of the German delegation and addressed the security situation at the regional and international levels, stressing the need for active participation by MPs in conflict resolution to help decision-makers rethink the structure of global security systems through effective parliamentary diplomacy and more dynamic cooperation.
