Mauritania Participates in UNWTO General Assembly in Riyadh

The 26th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) began last Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event is taking place from 7 to 11 November 2025 under the theme “AI-powered tourism: Redefining the Future,” and coincides with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the organization’s founding.

Mauritania is represented at this international gathering by Ms. Zeinebou Mint Ahmednah, Minister of Trade and Tourism; His Excellency Moctar Ould Dahi, Mauritania’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and Ms. Zeinebou Ely Salem, Mauritania’s representative to the UNWTO.

Their participation highlights Mauritania’s commitment to embracing global changes in sustainable and digital tourism. It also reflects the country’s dedication to developing tourism as a key driver of economic and social progress, in alignment with the strategic vision of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.

The opening ceremony featured official speeches that emphasized the importance of innovation and digital transformation in shaping the future of global tourism. Speakers also underscored the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing the tourist experience, improving efficiency, and promoting sustainability in this vital sector.
