President of Republic Affirms Mauritania’s Absolute Solidarity With Qatar, Calls For Arab, Islamic Unity To Protect Ummah’s Interests

His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, has affirmed the absolute solidarity of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania with the brotherly State of Qatar. He considered any threat to its security as an attack on Arab and Islamic national security, and any violation of its sovereignty as a serious provocation that cannot be accepted or ignored.

In his speech at the Arab-Islamic emergency summit held on 15 September in Doha, His Excellency the President of the Republic called for the unity of Arab and Islamic ranks to protect the interests and dignity of the nation and prevent any attempt to compromise its security and stability.

The speech reads as follows:

Peace and blessings be upon the most honorable of messengers, the Prophet Muhammad, as well as upon his family and companions.

Your Majesties, Excellencies, and Highnesses,

His Excellency, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States,

Your Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,

May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you!

We meet today at a pivotal moment in the history of our Ummah, where the variables affecting the security and stability of our Arab and Islamic countries intersect in a complex regional and international environment that requires strategic knowledge and high-level joint coordination to address the challenges of the present and ensure a balanced future.

The Israeli aggression against the Qatari capital, Doha, is neither an incident nor a passing event. In these circumstances and contexts, it is not an exceptional event. Rather, it is a new episode in a long series of aggressive policies constantly pursued by the Israeli occupation, aimed at violating the sovereignty of states and undermining any sincere effort to establish calm and achieve a just peace.

The Islamic Republic of Mauritania condemns in the strongest terms this flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the brotherly State of Qatar and affirms its absolute solidarity with it. It considers any attack on Qatar’s security to be an attack on Arab and Islamic national security, and any violation of its sovereignty to be a dangerous provocation that cannot be accepted or ignored.

The aggression against the State of Qatar represents a dangerous escalation and conclusive proof of the occupying forces’ lack of political will for peace. It reveals its persistent insistence on continuing down the path of aggression and genocide, a path that only directly threatens regional and international peace and security, undermines the foundations of stability, and erodes the international framework on which the collective security system is based.

We are collectively aware of the growing unconventional dynamics emerging in the region. These dynamics place a significant strategic burden on our countries, requiring the strengthening of common ties and values of solidarity to preserve our collective security and regional stability.

The nature of this phase requires a shift from individual reactions to a unified, coherent position capable of influencing the course of events. Thus, the message to be conveyed clearly is that the policy of violation and escalation will not be suppressed by silence, but rather by a common and serious position based on the relevant international mechanisms that protect the sovereignty of States, preserve the dignity of peoples, and restore respect for international law as a fundamental pillar of international peace and security.

In this regard, the role of the international community and its institutions, foremost among them the Security Council, becomes a necessity, not an option. It is its direct responsibility to ensure compliance with the rules of the international system. Furthermore, any comprehensive approach to lasting stability cannot ignore the Palestinian issue, as it is at the heart of the conflict, the key to balance in the region, and the foundation of any just and lasting peace.

In conclusion, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania renews its call for Arab and Islamic unity to protect the interests and dignity of the Ummah and to prevent any attempt to undermine its security and stability.
